What a summer you must have had, going in and out of medical facilities and ending up at your own doctor's because you experienced serious stress! No wonder you weren't around here much, you were obviously tied up in other stuff that begged for your full attention. I really hope your autumn will feel much better and bring you some peace of mind and physical rest as well. I must admit your subtle description of your doctor's receptionist's communicative skills made me smile, just because the situations behind those carefully chosen wordings for sure weren't funny at all.

In the commissions and the portrait you'd taken earlier you mention, you seem to have found something of yourself back, which I can't really judge of course, but when I look at the cover photo of Romana's piano recording, I can almost feel the depth of the mutual understanding between you and her, it's very delicate and moody, in a most worthy manner. The new portrait you made is more in an idiom I'm more familiar with through your posts, and I really love it! It is so direct and her gaze is charmingly piercing, with a contrast that is just right for it. Gorgeous! The photo from above where she seems to be floating, in the powerful (color-graded?) dark green and red of her dress, is the one that reminded me of the famous Ophelia painting by Millais, I like that one too.

I think I saw some of your work with the designer from your hometown before. In these portraits too, I see a connection, although it doesn't speak to me as much as in the photos with Romana.

Out of the photos you took of Bianca (what do you mean by "building a character"? if this Google translation is even close to what you wrote), I really liked the last one, with the playful shadow of the vegetation on side of her face. Although it radiates confidence, I also see some doubt in her expression (please forgive my thinking aloud).

I hope we may see some of your sketching, when the time to show it feels right for you. In the section about learning to draw, there's another subdued expression of dissatisfaction ('teachers of gross mediocrity'), which is very understandable in the situation you described. It;s good to hear the drawing is helping you not to go crazy and your clinic is going in the direction you had in mind when starting it. Good wishes to you too!

Good morning Vincent, and first of all, thank you for the thoughtful comment. There are chunks of life we'd gladly skip, but you have to work your way throughout them, and the reasonable thing to do is to enjoy the minor delights, such as a warm summer day, good music, and yes, in my case, an occasional sketch or photo making/editing. I feel somehow depleted, and perhaps that is also ok, but I won't lie to you, I could use a break from it all. Anyway - back to the questionable automatic translation - I meant CREATING/inventing a character, as in a forest nymph or fairy - just ballparking the concept here. As for my art professor(s) back in high school - as much as I'd like to project a luminous and idyllic light on those years, I have to remember the indifference and obtuse passivity some of them brought to class. I congratulate myself very often for having abandoned art as a career, and for choosing dentistry, which might not be glamorous, but it definitely gave me structure and discipline for a long time now.

Some very strong portraits there, Crina. I'm sorry that your summer was such a rough one. I hope that fall is calm and productive. Hoping that you might have a chance to work on our double exposure project. No rush, I just keep thinking about the latent images awaiting their matches. All best wishes, George

Thank you George; and yes, I want to get to it, I'm trying to stay on the creative side, and this project is a good incentive; I'll let you know.

Good to see you back, Crina, and sorry for your troubles. Seems like things are starting to look up for you, and that's great. I'd love to see some drawings when you feel they and you are ready.

Crina Prida's avatar

Not sure they are looking up, or I am getting used to the being messy. I will share some stuff eventually. There is little ambition there, but it feels good/challenging to delve into something different than photography.

.

De-atunci am avut mustrari de constiinta in mai multe randuri. Acum vad ca am avut dreptate sa ma incred in nalucirile mele.

.

Get well, sis!

If you're well, get better!

She's back! I am glad you are better and hopefully can put a bad first half behind you and replace it with a good push towards the end of 2026. Album cover looks great. I don't think I have seen that one before. Treviso was great by the way!

Hello, Soren and thanks. It takes a lot of concentration to sit down and write, when there are a lot of shitty things going on. I have plenty of photos, drawings, things to show/write, but yes, I am terribly chaotic when I have to juggle too many things.
